Sixth year for Atrius Health in the Boston Heart Walk

Did you know that cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the No. 1 killer of all Americans? In fact, someone dies from CVD every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects.

These are just some of the reasons why Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and the other medical groups that make up Atrius Health (South Shore Medical Center, Southboro Medical Group, Dedham Medical Associates, Granite Medical Group and Reliant Medical Group) will team up for the sixth year in a row to support the American Heart Association’s Boston Heart Walk on Saturday, September 15, 2012.  This amazing event takes place at the DCR Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade in Boston.  Hundreds of staff members from the Atrius Health groups have participated each year and in total have raised more than a half million dollars for the American Heart Association.

The Boston Heart Walk promotes physical activity and heart healthy living in a fun, family environment.  This year, over 1 million walkers will join over 300 events across the country to help save lives.  The Boston event will feature live music, healthy snacks, a kids’ zone and much more.

Atrius Health supports the American Heart Association’s mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.  To learn more about keeping your heart healthy, visit the Numbers That Count for a Healthy Heart!
